Caramel and apples go together like peanut butter and chocolate and when you combine dates and apples in this Caramel Apple Protein Smoothie you are getting a sweet treat without any artificial flavours or sweeteners.

Any kind of apple will do based on personal preference. A bit of tartness in a green apple will go great with the sweetness of the medal dates, but a Gala or Macintosh or Fuji works too. Be sure to keep the skin on for extra fiber!

In addition to adding a natural sweetness and a ‘caramel’ taste to this Caramel Apple Protein Smoothie, dates are high in fiber, potassium and contain calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium and zinc, B vitamins, Vit A and K. They are great for digestions, building muscle and bones as well as being a natural energy booster.  They taste amazing in these Triple Chocolate No Bake Cookies too!

Hemp seeds can be added if you have any.  They tend to be flavourless so get well in any protein smoothies. Hemp seeds are rich in healthy fats (Omega 3, 6, 9) and contain all 9 essential amino acids. They are also a great protein source and contain high amounts of vitamin E, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, magnesium, sulfur, calcium, iron and zinc.

Cinnamon is optional as it tends to take over.  If you’d rather taste sweet and not cinnamon then don’t add it.  Cinnamon does have its own healthy benefits but is not necessary in this protein smoothie.

When made with Boomer Nutrition ENERGY Vanilla Protein Powder, you get the added benefit of B Vitamins for energy and added leucine for muscle recovery and preservation, an important part of slowing age-related muscle loss.

For a vegan option try making this Caramel Apple Protein Smoothie with almond milk and our NEW Organic Vegan Boomer Nutrition Vanilla Protein Powder (I recommend adding half a banana for the best flavour) or stick with our original Boomer Nutrition ENERGY Vanilla Whey Protein Powder for a creamier version.

Enjoy ! Another great smoothie made with dates is this Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Protein Smoothie.

You will love the combination of chocolate and cherry in this Chocolate Cherry Chill Protein Smoothie. Cherries are a great addition to a daily protein smoothie for their many health benefits.

Cherries contain fiber, vitamins C, carotenoids and have the highest antioxidant level of any fruit which helps the body fight free radicals.  Sweet cherries have a low glycemic index, lower than peaches, blueberries and plums and they contain many anti-inflammatory compounds that may help to relive pain from osteoarthritis and can even reduce muscle damage after strenuous exercise. They are also a good source of melatonin which regulates sleep cycles.

For a vegan option try making this Chocolate Cherry Chill Protein Smoothie with our NEW Organic Vegan Boomer Nutrition Chocolate Protein Powder (I recommend adding half a banana for the best flavour) or stick with our original Boomer Nutrition ENERGY Chocolate Whey Protein Powder for a creamier version.

When made with Boomer Nutrition Protein Powders you get the added benefit of B Vitamins for energy and added leucine for muscle recovery and preservation, an important part of slowing age-related muscle loss.

Enjoy all the health benefits of turmeric in this lemony Lemon Turmeric Protein Smoothie.

Turmeric has been used for thousands of years as a spice and medicinal herb in India and is commonly found in Indian cuisine giving curry that lovely yellow colour. Curcumin, the main active ingredient in turmeric, is a strong antioxidant and powerful anti-inflammatory. Both are an important part of healthy aging.

Turmeric – or curcumin – is also said to help ease arthritis, protect the heart, boost the brain and my fight diabetes and cancer. It also improves your ability to digest fats, reducing gas and bloating, decreased congestion, and can improve skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne. There is approximately 200mg of curcumin in one teaspoon of fresh or ground turmeric.

When used in small amounts – 1/2 tsp – turmeric has a very light flavour so makes a healthy addition to the Lemon Turmeric Protein Smoothie.

When made with Boomer Nutrition ENERGY Vanilla Protein Powder, you get the added benefit of B Vitamins for energy and added leucine for muscle recovery and preservation, an important part of slowing age-related muscle loss.

A favorite for sure, this Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie is simple to make and packs a protein punch with over 35grams of protein when you combine plain greek yogurt, milk and a scoop of Boomer Nutrition ENERGY Vanilla Protein Powder.

That might sound like it is too much protein in a single serving, but considering the average moderately active 150lb person requires 100 grams of protein a day this is about right if you are having your protein smoothie in place of breakfast or mid day meal.

To reduce the amount of protein you can substitute water in place of milk or regular plain yogurt in place of greek.  You can also substitute honey or vanilla greek yogurt to increase the sweetness but this will also add more sugar to your smoothie.

The strawberries in this smoothie are high in vitamin C and with their diverse polyphenol content, they also provide key antioxidants and anti-inflammatory nutrients. The bananas provide B6 as well as potassium, which has been shown to lower blood pressure.

You had me at chocolate. This Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Protein Smoothie reminds me of a cookie or a muffin and that is how I like my protein smoothies some mornings. It is a meal in a cup – perfect for on the go, after a workout or if you need a mid day filling snack when dinner will be late.

Using natural peanut butter, with only one ingredient – peanuts – means you get the benefit of the protein while avoiding the hydrogenated oil and added sugar or icing sugar of traditional name brand peanut butters. If you haven’t already, make the switch to buying only natural peanut butter. A small change that makes a big difference when it comes to nutritional value.

The medjool dates and Boomer Nutrition ENERGY Chocolate Protein Powder add natural sugar to this smoothie, which may be a welcome flavour when using the natural peanut butter.

Using uncooked rolled oats in this smoothie means you get all the health benefits of 1 cup of cooked oats in just 1/2 cup of uncooked (difference is the water content of the cooked oatmeal). That translates into 6 added grams of protein and 4 grams of added fibre plus the benefit of thiamine, iron, zinc, selenium and copper.

Give this protein smoothie a try. I am pretty sure you will be back for seconds.

Blueberry Bliss Quinoa Protein Smoothie? Would you try quinoa in a smoothie? I did and loved the taste, but I prefer not to chew my protein smoothie.  I suggest grinding up your oats before adding the rest of the ingredients in this Carrot Cake Protein Smoothie so suggest the same here. In order to ensure the quinoa is ground up and smooth I would add it to the blender or bullet first, maybe with a bit of the milk or water you plan on using, before adding the rest of the ingredients.

This Blueberry Bliss Protein Smoothie gives you the antioxidant and vitamin benefit of blueberries, which includes benefits for the nervous system and brain health.  Research shows that older adults can improve cognitive function, including memory, by daily consumption of blueberries. Combine this with the protein power of our Boomer Nutrition ENERGY Vanilla Protein Powder and the nutrient dense quinoa, its overall phytonutrient benefits, added protein and fibre and this is one filling smoothie.

Using Boomer Nutrition ENERGY Vanilla Protein Powder and vanilla flavoured greek yogurt as well as vanilla almond or rice milk is another great way to add flavour to this protein smoothie so you taste more than just kale.

Hemp seeds are a great addition to any protein smoothie as they contain all of the essential amino acids, which makes it a complete source of protein just like chicken, fish or beef. Adding just 1tbsp of hemp seeds to your protein smoothie adds over 3 grams of high-quality protein.

Carrot Cake in a protein smoothie? Technically there is no cake in this recipe, but the combination of the Boomer Nutrition ENERGY Vanilla Protein Powder, oats, carrot juice and cinnamon remind me of a slice of carrot cake minus the cream cheese frosting on top.

The 1/2 cup carrot juice in this smoothie provides vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, B-6, thiamin, riboflavin, magnesium, calcium and more than 100% of your daily requirement for vitamin A. Carrots are also a valuable source of antioxidant vitamins that help prevent premature aging.

And there is more. The 1 tsp of cinnamon is reported to help regulate blood sugars, has anti-inflammatory properties and gives you 40% of your daily requirement of manganese.

This is not your typical chocolate protein smoothie because this one serves up a heaping dose of  . . . spinach.

No wait, stay with me. It tastes good. Really. That is the surprise part – just how good this smoothie tastes.

This Chocolate Surprise Protein Smoothie combines the great taste of Boomer Nutrition ENERGY Chocolate Protein Powder and spinach but you will hardly notice it.

There is one full cup – scrunch as many leaves as you can into that cup – of niacin, zinc, vitamin A, C E, thiamin, B6, folate, calcium, iron, fiber and protein spinach goodness in this smoothie and you won’t even know it’s there.

The dates give this smoothie a natural sweetness while the hemp seeds add even more muscle healthy protein. If you like your smoothies super chocolatey you can add a tbsp of cocoa powder, but I find it chocolatey enough without it.

Mangos are high in antioxidants, Vitamin C, Vitamin A and B6 while oranges are full of folate and fiber in addition to their well know source of Vitamin C. Greek yogurt, hemp seeds and a scoop of Boomer Nutrition ENERGY Vanilla Protein Powder give this smoothie over 30 grams of protein per glass.

Keep a few seedless oranges in your refrigerator and keep your freezer stocked with chunks of mango. When peeling the orange, include as much of the white outer layer on the orange when you blend it in your smoothie to boost the fiber content.

Adding 1 tbsp of chia, hemp and/or ground flax seeds to your smoothie will increase both the protein and fiber content by 2-5grams.

There is nothing better than a smoothie to get you going in the morning and, if made with the right ingredients, it can provide a mega dose of healthy nutrients too.

Blueberries have long been heralded as a superfood and for good reason. Blueberries contain fiber, vitamin C, vitamin E and powerful antioxidants that studies have found can lower blood pressure,  improve brain function, slow down aging process and protect against certain cancers.

Adding protein to your morning smoothie is a must as protein is a basic requirement to almost all our cells, hair, skin, tissue, muscles and enzymes. It also is responsible for making you feel full longer as your body takes time to digest protein. An average 150lb adult needs a minimum of 55grams of protein a day, more if you are active.

When made with Boomer Nutrition ENERGY Protein Powder you get the added benefit of B Vitamins for energy and added leucine for muscle recovery and preservation, an important part of slowing age-related muscle loss.

Make it a vegan protein smoothie by using our NEW Organic Vegan Protein Powders and almond, rice, soy or cows milk, coconut water or plain water.
